  • Physiotherapists help you get the most out of your life by aiding recovery from injuries, alleviating pain, enhancing mobility, and preventing further issues. Attuned to your needs, they customize treatments without requiring a doctor's referral. Physiotherapists collaborate with doctors and health professionals, forming integral parts of teams to plan and manage treatments for specific conditions.

  • Physiotherapists are trained to assess your condition, diagnose the problem, and help you understand what’s wrong. Your treatment plan will take into account your lifestyle, activities and general health.

    The following are common treatment methods use by physiotherapists:

    • exercise programs to improve mobility and strengthen muscles

    • joint manipulation and mobilisation to reduce pain and stiffness

    • muscle re-education to improve control

    • airway clearance techniques and breathing exercises

    • soft tissue mobilisation (massage)

    • acupuncture and dry needling

    • hydrotherapy

    • assistance with use of aids, splints, crutches, walking sticks and wheelchairs to help you move around.

  • You heard correctly. Physiotherapists work across a variety of settings, including Private Practice, Hospital, Aged Care, and Disability sectors to name some. Physiotherapists can practice and specialise further in a number of areas, including musculoskeletal conditions, sports injury, cardiothoracics, neurological, paediatric, and geriatric populations to name some!

  • Physiotherapists a first contact practitioners. This means you do not need a referral for a privately funded appointment. However, for Medicare Enhanced Primary Care Plans/GP Management Plans, DVA, WorkCover QLD you will need a referral with appropriate paperwork from your Doctor.

  • Appointments are 20-30min in duration. You will receive 100% of our attention during your appointment.

  • Your physiotherapist will greet you and have a conversation about your main concerns, gather background information, and help understand your goals for physiotherapy. They will then perform an assessment to help them form a diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment plan. They will discuss their findings and co-plan a treatment plan with you based on your goals and preferences. They will also perform treatment techniques, (e.g. hands on therapy, movement modifications, home exercises for self-care at home etc) that you have agreed upon for your treatment plan.

    It is of our highest priority that you understand your condition, time-course, and treatment options. We wish for our patients to be fully informed on their treatment plan, and are part of the process.

  • During your assessment, your injured area and surrounding areas will need to be observed and moved through range. Wearing comfortable clothing such as shorts, t-shirt, and underwear are usually best for this.

  • The age old question! Given there are numerous ways to fund your treatment, this will vary. Please contact us directly so we can help you understand which method of payment is best for you.

  • You most certainly can! I work with a number of Self-managed and Plan Managed NDIS participants.
